Our First "Real" Visit

I am going to be honest with you: today's visit was hard. When they brought Lily to us she needed a fresh diaper (which I neglected to bring), she was hungry and ready for a nap. So we made the best of a tough situation, but it was hard to know that we couldn't give her what she needed. Then we had two hours with her, trying to keep her happy.
The first 30 minutes were fine and that's when we took most of these pictures. By the end she was just done with us, lol. I mean, who can blame her? She's probably never been in that room before, with two strangers, being held and touched more than she's used to....I'd be overwhelmed, too.
Tomorrow we will get TWO visits with her for the first time: 9am-10am and then 1pm-3pm. Then Wednesday morning at 9am we will have court and she will be legally OURS!
I just had to try out this headband to go with her "Gotcha Day" outfit. She was not a fan, lol!
"Who's this?"
"It's Mama!"
"And not through the looking glass!"
"I like this toy but it doesn't have any food!"
The first of many yawns...
I love how Lily and Rob both have the same expression in this picture:
Rob did get a smile out of her today by tickling her.
"What's this? Daddy's face?"
"This is interesting..."
"I'm ready for my close-up!"

Visiting is ridiculously hard. There is nothing about it that is "Normal" - I mean who sits with their baby in their lap for 2 hours and does nothing but give them attention???? It is just plain nutty! LOL! We visited Aaron 65 times and honestly thought we would go nuts! How many times can you roll a truck down the pavement?? It does pass... it does get better... She will start to recognize that you guys are so different and actually quite wonderful!! The transformation is coming....

That green stuff they put on them...is that for sores? Like Neosporin that we have here? I have seen it on Mia too, and it just seems that they should have something better that doesn't turn their poor little skin green!

Aw Jess. I'm glad you got to be with her, and there is waaaaay more time to have the fresh diaper, give her the sweet little nap, feed her little tummy, etc. The pictures were beautiful. I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow and you are home in the States asap. I'm praying for you guys.

Julia is VERY right about the visitation thing. All three of my kids are COMPLETELY different after we got them out of the orphanage.

And what is that awful blue stuff they have on her spots??? THey put the exact same thing on ALik and JOsslyn when ever they had a boo boo. Awful. And it stains for days.

Praying for you. For us, this was the hardest part of the entire adoption. Seriously. I felt like I was going to die at the time, but now I would do it a million times over to get my sweeties home again.

Yep... I agree with all that has been said about vsiting. It was the worst part, but the best too. I looked forward to holding him, and playing with him, and telling him all about his new life, even if he couldn't understand me at the time. LOL Hang in there, soon it will all be a distant memory and you will be saying "I would do it again to get her home" too!!
