Pictures Of Our Girl

This one was taken in March, 2011:
Isn't she lovely?!?!

These two were taken earlier this year:
I love how she's holding her leg in this one:

Now for a few questions of ya'll....
  1. From looking at these pictures, does anyone have any guesses as to what size clothing she's wearing? Obviously she will grow a lot once we get her home, but we do have to bring clothes to "spring" her from the orphanage.
  2. Does anyone else think she has blue eyes?? I do :)
  3. We have not even begun to think of a name for her. Any suggestions?!?!  "Zara" is not her real name, of course. We found out her birthname but we can't share it on here until she is officially "ours". It would make a nice middle name. "Zara" is kind of growing on me...I looked it up and it's an Arabic name that means "radiance".
  4. We are getting a blog makeover...any ideas for a new name for the blog???
And now some answers to YOUR questions!
  1. Zara will be two years old in May.
  2. She has Down syndrome and had heart surgery late last year.
  3. We will get her grant money ($2690), that's why our "vine" grew so much recently :)
We still miss Riley an awful lot. That's one of the reasons I want to change the blog design. This design is HIS, and always will be. He will always be our son in our hearts. We will always love him and pray for him.

She is so beautiful! I am so happy for you guys and I think her eyes def. look blue ;) It looks like she might be wearing 12-18 months? I have a 13 month old and she looks about the same size, though it's hard to tell. Target and Old Navy have the best baby clothes, and I don't know if you have one in C-burg, but Harrisonburg has a store called "Once Upon a Child" that sells gently used (and sometimes new) baby clothes, strollers, etc. It's a great resource!! I also love the meaning of the name Zara. Will you be able to pick it once you are there and see her face to face? Maybe you can have a list of ideas and pick one when you see her in person. With those big eyes and precious cheeks she kind of reminds me of a "Bella" too. I'll keep thinking and send more ideas. I love coming up with baby names!

YAY! Congratulations, she's beautiful. It's really hard to guess size without something next to her in the pic to compare too. I would guess 6-12 but 12-18 is probably a pretty safe guess too (rather a bit too big than too small!). I love how she's holding her foot in the picture too, one of my little ones always did that, I even have a picture of her sleeping like that :o) What do you think of the name Eden?

Jess I am SO happy for your family : ) Zara is a pretty amazing name. Personally I love it!

I would also echo 12-18 month sizes (particularly if she will have a lot of dresses in her wardrobe) BUT, probably 6-12 month bottoms (think leggings!)

Again Congratulations!

Blessings

Dear Jess,

She is really sweet, and in such a great need of a mommy of her own. The name Maya came into my mind when I looked at her. It's meaning is: divine, creative force in everything.
We pray that Riley'd be safe and loved by his relatives.

We wish you all the best,

Zsofia and Norbert

Zara is a beautiful name!!! (We have baby names on the brain right now since we might be able to find out the sex of baby #5 in 2 weeks. The others were surprises.) Your sweet daughter looks like she could be a Savannah. We like to have 2 or three names picked out and wait until we see their personality to choose one.

It looks like maybe she's in a 9-12 but its' hard to tell for sure. She could be wearing 9m, 12m or 12-18. I would bring a few different sizes along. Our 20m old is in 18m right now and she's a little on the small side of the curve. Not sure if that helps or not.

We are going to miss getting updates on precious Riley but are thankful he's been rescued.

Thanks for sharing all the beautiful pictures of your daughter with us! I would love to see lots of girly colors on her new blog. : )

I love the name Zara - all my daughters names end in "a" -
Sabrina, Ella, Tessa -
Followed my mother's tradition, her 4 daughters are Carla, Andrea, Gemma, Marina (we are Italian)...
My sister kept it up too with a Sofia and Elena!!

Needless to say I love Zara!

Well, for blog names, your road has certainly been winding....so something along that path?? Like, "Our Winding Road to Zara" or "Where His Path Takes Us"...just some ideas....

For size, that first sleeper would only come max as a 24 month size, so no bigger obviously. I would go with 12 and 18 month leggings so they fit tightly and some swing-top sort of tops....then size doesn't matter too much.

The clothes look 9-12 or maybe 12-18, that's what I'd go with to be safe (have they told you what she weighs? That will give you a much better idea). Yes, the eyes look blue, and she looks like maybe she'll be a gymnast like you! And as for names, I could inundate you, but for now I'll just suggest the first thing that came to mind when I saw her: Sadie.

So excited for you! Do you know when you'll be going to get her?

Blog name? How bout something like 'Our radiant (new)journey.."? :)
Typically, little one's w/ DS are small to begin with. Orpahned DS little's are even smaller :( Our Isaac was 4 1/2 when we adopted him & he wore 18m-2t depending on the maker. He weighed 21 lbs. then :( She looks small. So I'd guess with Becca at about 9m -12m. And...I like Zara. It's pretty, it's unique & it's got pazazz! :D Blessings! ♥, Lysh
